I’m not sure if you have seen the movie Avatar. If you have not, I truly recommend it. The computer graphics if out of this world, specially when you see it in 3D. The story is pretty good as well, if you can see beyond the visual effects and really get into it.

Some people, I’m sure, will be captivated by the graphics and the, “wow! that’s so cool” effects of the movie and miss the lessons. I’m not going to give the plot of the movie away if you’ve not seen it, but will relate what I saw to what I know.

Do you ever wonder why the Native Americans and the eastern cultures always talk about our connection to each other? Do you think they know something that the rest of us don’t know or refuse to see and understand? I’m going to answer that and say that it’s both.

Most people, upon hearing that we’re all connected, will dismiss it as something hokie. That initial dismissal brings about the refusal to see and understand what is said. Why is that? Is it because we’re more logic and science minded in the “West” that we don’t believe in the unseen?

It is a bit interesting putting it in those terms because most of the “west” belong to some type of religion that talks about faith and people that faith believe in the unseen. So, why is it hard to believe in the underlying spirit that unites us all?

When we are logic and science minded, we have accumulated knowledge and we think we know when in reality, we don’t know anything. How do you believe you know anything? Things change so quickly and yet most think they know. Knowing is not accumulation of knowledge. It is something deeper, something that is innate once we get logic, science, and mind out of the way. I talked about that a few posts ago. Check out it here

So, the interconnectedness that I’m referring to is the one energy that we have our being in. It is all that there is. As it says in the bible, “Man shall live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Here’s a different explanation of the above quote. Yes, we do need food to survive…not really, but we’ll go with that notion for now. But, we also need the spiritual energy that permeates everything. Word is not the actual word that “religious officials” would have you believe; that you need to attend church in order to hear “the word” in order to live. Word is energy that comes from spirit…the only source of it all.

I will end with this quote from Buddha, “All beings tremble before violence. All fear death, all love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?” We are of the same source and hence are the same. Change your perspective and see yourself in others because you are the other.

Namaste!
